Rebuilding Haiti

This video shows the situation in Haiti and explains different ways that you can help. Below you can find more information on all of the different ways that you can be involved in the reconstruction.

Help Through Giving

If you would like to assist with the reconstruction project through giving just follow the link below.

The money will go towards phase two of the recovery effort. The current priority need is to provide provisional facilities for more than 20 congregations (approximately $20,000 each). Join the Wesleyan Church in building a future of hope of the Haitian Church and people.

Donors may give to Rebuilding Haiti (Project WM06-1324)

Reconstruction Team Details

Length of Trip: Optimum 10 days including day of arrival in country and day of departure.

Skills: Not every team member needs to be a skilled carpenter; however, each team
should have a level of trade craft necessary for them to actually accomplish something
while on location. (Ideally, at least two team members need to know how to build and the
rest of the team should be willing and able to provide general labor.)

Team Budget: Each team should budget $50 per team member per day which will cover
all in-country expenses, including shelter, food, laundry and transportation to and from
Port-au-Prince airport. Each team will also contribute $1,000 for local construction labor.
All team funds should be carried in with the team in US dollars.

Number of teams to build at each site: Those sites at a greater distance, due to travel time, will need 2 teams; otherwise, one team should be able to construct a standard provisional
building in the 10 days.

Health/Fitness: In light of the nature of the rebuilding teams and the lack of significant
infrastructure currently in Haiti, team members need to be of good health and able to
endure heat and physical activity in possibly harsh conditions. No special diets will be
able to be accomodated.

Extreme Teams: These are teams that have the capacity to live in primitive camping
conditions during the duration of their contruction project.

Travel Arrangements: Teams can arrange their own flights, but no tickets should be
purchased until dates/times are approved by GP. Once purchased, flight itineraries
should be sent to GP.

Internet: There is limited Internet access in Port-au-Prince and La Gonave. In addition,
some iPhone/Blackberry type devices may work in various locations.
