The Caribe Atlantic Area is one of seven areas Global Partners operates in around the world and includes three countries- Haiti, Guyana, and Suriname. In these three countries there is a total of six functioning districts, four in Haiti and one each in Suriname and Guyana. The Caribe Atlantic Area Director, Dan Irvine and his wife Joy, are currently residing in Haiti working with a special assignment with the Wesleyan Church and overseeing numerous church rebuilds from the aftermath of the earthquake in January 2010.
As of 2013, The Wesleyan Church has been operating in these countries for over a combined 240 years. Over that time, The Wesleyan Church has been able to establish hospitals, clinics, schools, Bible colleges and churches. The Caribe Atlantic Area is currently focused on four key areas of development and service in Haiti, Suriname and Guyana- Community Health, Education, National Church Support and Enterprise Development.
- Assist the national churches to evaluate their organizational/operational needs and develop a clear plan of action to achieve effective functionality.
i. Stewardship understanding and financial process/reporting
ii. Long term plan for theological education for both Pastors and church workers
iii. Celebration of women in ministry
- The formation of a theologically sound and culturally appropriate development strategy including enterprise opportunity, community building and social justice concerns.
- To develop a long term strategy for the transition of these mission units to participation in a regional or general conference.
